Monster Hunter 4 New 3DS Transfer Concern

$

Hopefully this wasn't already brought up, I skimmed the other topics and didn't see it.  I doubt this is an issue, but it's been nagging me more and more the closer it gets to release day.

I bought the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Edition New 3DS XL, and wanted to transfer the data from my 2DS to the new system.  I understand that this process will erase data on the receiving system, or the New 3DS, but that won't erase the Monster Hunter 4 game that's pre-installed will it?

I hope not or it kinda defeats the purpose....  I normally buy physical copies of games to avoid this kind of thing.

Purchased MH4U, Redeemed Theme Code, Unable to Download Theme

I was hoping to get this resolved quickly but seems like that's not gonna happen so here's the gist. Dog wakes me up, see's it's 9 in the morning, turns on system, goes to eShop, purchases Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on Launch. Success, selects Download Later, Sees and selects"Enter Code," Download requirements for the free themes included with purchase, Error pops up forcing me to go to Home, reinputs code given on receipt (fails of coarse), checks "Your Downloads" and all over Theme shop and no where do I see the free themes. Please someone tell me what am I over looking and tell me it is simple because I hate to find out I would have to call custormer support over some free download. I hope this will not escalate into a whole bigger issue, but more importantly I hope I'm not screwed and forever unable to download the themes unless they pop up on the store making me have to buy them when I already registered the code for the themes.

Side Note: I have no idea what the error was, I thought it was a classic error pop-up possibly due to high traffic. Still I would not in any way think the error would be important but just incase, no I do not know what the error was.

System Transfer to New 3DS XL without source 3DS XL

Hello, SKRiver19 here on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.

I'd like to start with saying that I have made some decisions without the proper foresight for things to come.  In my excitement for the release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (MH4U) and the bundle that comes with a New 3DS, I decided that since I was obviously getting the Bundle, I really didn't need my old 3DS XL.  I traded-in my old XL to GameStop along with some games and used that money to help pay off the bundle on the spot (I kept my 32gb SD card and reinserted the 4gb SD card that originally came with the XL).  For a good month, I was confident that I could just pickup the New 3DS XL this Friday and, after moving the Nintendo folder form my SD card to the MicroSD card, just begin playing with my current Nintendo Network ID (NNID) and all of the games that are linked with my NNID, but after Nintendo released a video a few days ago explaining how to transfer information from one system to another, I highly doubt that I'll be able to just pickup and play my games without locking myself out and being unable to access the games that I have purchased (which includes big games like Smash Bros. and Bravely Default).  I know my NNID and password (not my friend code though I don't think it's that important).

So my question(s) is(are):

1) Since I do not have the source 3DS to transfer information from to the New 3DS, is it still possible for Nintendo to make that transfer through some sort of online service?  and if so, who would I have to contact, how would I contact them, and how long would it approximately take?

****I found a reddit post that says that I still have a chance to transfer my information, but I'd prefer to hear it from a primary source.  I'll include the url to the reddit post so you can look it over for your own reference.

***Edited to remove external link***

2)  Hypothetical Question:  Let's say that I go to my local GameStop and, by the grace of God, they still have my old 3DS XL and they're merciful enough to search for it (my old XL has a tell-tale chip next to the R button that I can't miss).  If they have it, it's highly possible, probably almost guaranteed, that they have factory reset it in preparation for sale.  Even if it is factory reset, is the XL still linked to my NNID? and if it is and GameStop allowed me, would I still be able to system transfer my NNID on the day of the release?

I can't think of any other questions that I my have at the moment but I really hope to hear from anyone as soon as you possibly can.  Thank you for your help.

New 3ds touchscreen problem

Hi! I got a New 3ds Majora's Mask edition today, but there is a problem. I did a system transfer from my old 3ds XL to my new one, and everything went fine. But now that everything is on my new 3ds, the home screen is constantly being touched on the bottom left corner. Occasionally the circle pad works, occasionaly it does not, and same with the bottons. I was able to fight it and re-calibrate the touchscreen once, but it did not work. I think I need to send it in for repair, but when I called Nintendo to set up a repair, they would not let me talk to an actual person. I am really dissapointed, because I essentially spent 200 dollars to not play any of my games (as they are all downloaded) for a week because of the repair it needs, and I cant even set it up right now. What should I do?

When I tried to connect to the eShop, it gave me a error (no error code) and it told me to go to the support page. (not much help either) I can play online, view the internet browser, and I can see my friends that are online. Is it down? EDIT: Gave me Error Code: 005-5686. Looking up what it is. EDIT 2: What it said is what I've been doing for the last 10 minutes. :|

Nintendo making me re-buy all my games again

I had the original 3DS which I puchased many eshop games just because I didn't like using cartridges.  Plus it's convenient to carry many games within the system.  Haven't played with the 3DS in awhile and decided to sell it.  I did a factory restore and sold my 3DS.  Now I just purchased a new 3DS in hopes to redownload all my paid games and found out that those games are tied to my original 3DS.  I called Nintendo customer service about the problem.  They see my purchases on Club Nintendo along with my original 3DS serial number.  But they say that they can't do anything about it and that the only way to get those games again is to re-buy them again.  I had an Ambassador Certificate as well with my original 3DS.  The tech support won't even help me in authorizing a redownload to my new 3DS.  This is unfair to people like me.  Forcing us to re-buy everything.

Anyone have a solution for this problem?  There's no way I'm going to re-buy hundreds of dollars of games again.

SD Card not detected

This just started happening when I updated my 3DS. Every time I try to access the eShop, or even the Home menu, I get an error message saying that the system "Could not detect an SD card" and "The software on the SD card could not be displayed". Also, it tells me the portion of my SD card that stores software data is corrupted when I access the eShop and redirects me to data management. I have formatted everything and I still get this error. Please help!

New Nintendo 3DS XL has a stuck/dead pixel. Will Nintendo repair/replace it for free?

I'm sort of annoyed.

I ordered a New 3DS XL from gamestop.

It arrived today, I applied my screen protectors, and then I did the system transfer.

After that I started playing Monster Hunter 4, which has a lot of dark colors in it. Then I noticed that whenever the screen is black, there is an extremely annoying bright red pixel on my top screen.

My original instinct was to take it back to Gamestop to get it replaced, but then I ran into an issue. My New 3DS can't preform another system transfer for seven days.

That would mean that in order for me to successfully replace my system with Gamestop, I'd have to wait a week to transfer my data back to my old 3DS, and then ANOTHER week to transfer that data to my New New 3DS.

Then I decided that it'd probably be much easier and faster to just send the console in to Nintendo for repairs, but of course, I ran into another problem. As I was filling out the form to get it repaired, I was told to check off the following box-

I understand that if the problem with my system is not a manufacturers defect:

  • Nintendo will e-mail me to arrange for payment.
  • This email will be sent within 2-3 business days of my repair being received.
  • I will have a limited time to respond or my system will be returned unrepaired.

This IS a manufacturers defect. I'm not paying to get this repaired when my console is brand new and covered under warranty.

Will Nintendo repair this for free, or am I stuck waiting two weeks and doing a gamestop replacement?

3ds memory card question(s)

sorry if this has been asked, i looked for 2 days now and havent found much solid info.

since nintendo is putting retail 3ds games on the e shop i decided it is time to upgrade my card from the 2 gig to a 32 or 64gb

question i have

1.will a 64gb sdhc or sdxc work in the 3ds

2. anyone know what write/read speed it should have, someone said that read speed is more important than writing speed for 3ds so is a 20mb/s read speed and 15mb/s write speed good

3. anyone have suggestions on cards i should get, i want it to be a 64gb and under 60 bucks, i found one for 50 thats a komputerbay 64gb class 10 sdxc card if anyone knows of a better card or how good this one is it would be really helpful.

Recovering Corrupted Save Data in Pokemon X and Y

$

Okay, so I just had a very, very close shave. I'd beaten the main game of an eShop-downloaded Pokemon: Y Version about a week ago, and have since been working on making some competitive online battling teams while filling in the Pokedex as a side-project. I thought I was done for the night, but one of my friends needed something, so I went to open it up.

That's when I saw this before the intro cinematic even played:

"The save game data is corrupted.

Refer to the electronic manual for details."

Natrually I was very concerned. I had no desire to just lose 220+ hours of time and effort, so I opened the manual hoping for a way to recover my corrupted data, maybe by loading a backup of my SD Card data.

The manual plainly told me that loading a backup would not restore my save game data.

This nearly made me quite literally throw my 3DS out the window in rage, but I decided to channel that anger into proving the manual wrong and searched up some fixes. Only two possibilities turned up, found on these forums:

1) Having the SD Card read by an external source (i.e. copying data from it to your computer).

2) Constantly restarting the game and praying it would jostle the game data into suddenly working again.

Now, this time things worked out; the first solution worked for me. and Pokemon Y is working just fine now. But this was still a seriously close call that could happen again at any moment, and I've seen cases on these forums that weren't so easily fixed. So I have to ask this:

Why can't we preserve and backup our save game data of Pokemon X and Y?

I know the obvious answer I'm going to get is some vein of "because of hackers and piracy", but my impression was that these were already taken care of as best as possible, hackers by the "Bad Egg" error thing and piracy by the 3DS-eShop linking. I know there are always a myriad of people trying to break these games over their knees, but to be frank, these people deserve whatever errors or lawsuits they get. The rest of us who instead play the game legally have to deal with errors like this with no way of reversing the damage other than to completely restart, and it is not at all fair, nor does it seem worth the trade-off.

Before anyone asks, the corruption that happened in my game was an entirely random event. I save often, I've never recieved a "Bad Egg", I bought the game right off of the eShop on launch day, and the closest thing I've done to cheating is save scumming when breeding Pokemon and not getting a favorable result in order to save time. This random corruption was a major eye opener to what hundreds of other people must have had happen to them also, and I'm not about to turn a blind eye even if I did fix my data.

The point is: in this day and age where info and data can be stored on nearly anything with nearly any means, hacking and piracy notwithstanding, there needs to be a reliable way for the innocent consumers to backup and recover the save data for a mere video game. Is there any way to make this possible? I'd rather not lose 220+ hours of work again and not be able to get it back this time...

3DS Black Screen of Death 2013

Towards the end of April, I was playing Pokemon Black 2 on my 3DS. I closed the lid one night and let it sleep. Over the course of the night the battery died. I woke up the next morning and tried to turn it on. It turned on for a little but then died again because it didn't have enough juice. I plugged in the charger to let it charge, but it never fully came on again. When I turn it on, both of the backlights come on, the power light comes on, the charging light comes on, and the wifi light will come on. The 3D slider light does not. If I hold the power button, but screens turn on and the 3D light and displays the regualr "In Sleep Mode, the system can..." message. From this screen I can power off fully, but when I try to go to the Home screen, it lags indefinitely.

With my 3DS in this state I've been looking for solution, I found out about the system update screen where you turn the system on holding L, R, A and up. This worked fine, both of my screens turned on and I could update, if there was an update to update. I've waited months for the update that came out a few days ago hoping that this would fix my problem. It did not. I contacted NIntendo about this problem and they didn't know what to do with it either, finally teling me to send it in for 100 bucks to fix it.

My 3DS is a launch day Black 3DS with ambassador games and everything. Every 3DS with this specific problem I've read up on so far have been 3DS from that window with ambassador games and all which leads me to believe that it might have been a defect with that specific batch of 3DS's. I made this thread to see if anyone else had the same 3DS as me that has this problem and if ANYONE has found a fix for it yet that doesn't involve me giving Nintendo 100 more dollars after the 250 bucks I paid for it at launch. Please help guys. Thank you in advance.

The error message on nintendos sport page says to make sure I'm connected to my router.. it's right next to me and my signal is really strong. Not sure if it has to do with port forwarding/nat issues (I have tho issues here at college in the dorms with my ps4) or if it is something on nintendos end. Any help?

I just got a Nintendo 3DS a few hours ago, and am trying to update it. When the system starts to update, it stops and a message comes up saying "An error has occurred. Unable to update. The system will now be restarted." I have deleted then input back in my internet settings 3 times, and still continue to have this problem. What can I do to fix this?

Thanks,
