Like many users of the Nintendo 3DS, I'm upset. Unlike many, I will not sit here and whine in a thread on MiiVerse which will never be replied too.
I begged my mum for months to get me the 3DS and a copy of Pokemon X or Y. She actually used vacation pay to get me the system for Christmas.
I was extremely excited when I finally got the system, and immediately started trying it out.
Well, the first system I got, the screen was un-calibratable and non-functioning.
The second, the top screen had what looked like water damage right out of the box.
The third works fine, thankfully..But this is not the point.
The ads put emphasis on making new friends, chatting with them, and enjoying multiplayer games with players from around the world. But as soon as you connect to the internet...You learn this was all a lie.
Swapnote was shut down because people expect Nintendo to babysit for them and they can't set up parental controls to keep their own children safe. Parental controls exist for the function of disabling features and access to features without a password to keep younger users safe. Parents are made well-aware of the fact that parental controls exist upon booting up the system for the first time. But because some people abused the service and because these lazy parents blamed Nintendo, the service was shut down.
This is absolutely disgusting. You punish all for the actions of a few, tell parents that "Yes, because of your stupidity we WILL babysit your children", then continue to lie in marketing and ads run for the system.
I wanted a way to private chat with my friends, and now I can't. Now that privalege has been taken away and I have been punished because of someone else's actions.
Then they take it a step further...By basically banning friends all-together. Miiverse, a service which was introduced to make posts publically and chat with friends in a Facebook-esque manner, has made it a bannable offense to share your friend codes.
The 'rule lording' here is so disgusting on many, MANY levels. "You can make friends but on our terms, and if we say no, it means NO, because you are all little babies who we must order around!"
Most of your users are over thirteen, Nintendo. I'm sixteen. I ahve the legal right to use your services. But you are taking away my legal rights and treating me as though I am an unintelligent, small child who does nothing but sit around and drool.
I honestly am so frustrated I want to cry. I begged my mum and dad for a 3DS so i could play X or Y with friends, enjoy the new Swapnote feature, enjoy the new Flipnote, and once I actually got the system it was update after update destroying this and that for "Safety concerns".
In short; You're lying to customers, conning them, and you're treating us all like small children who can not help themselves simply because some parents can't be bothered to protect their children. This is disgusting, and VERY wrong.
